Santa Eusebia

Origins
His parents had about four children, and among them is Eusebia, in a family where many were considered saints. When she was still very young, she tragically lost her father. Because of this, his mother asked to move, together with her children, to a monastery. Eusebia was soon requested for the religious order by Gertrude, the abbess. Some claim that Gertrude was from Eusebia's family, but there are no sources to prove this. With Gertrude's death, Eusebia was elected abbess, despite her young age – according to tradition, she was only twelve years old.

Abandonment and obedience
Even though she was considered too young to assume the role of abbess, Eusebia had a great and humble desire to respond to God's call and Gertrude's appointment. However, Eusebia would have to deal with her mother's contradiction, who considered her too young and incapable of taking on such a role. Knowing that this decision would not be well accepted by others and by Eusebia, the mother obtained a letter from King Clovis II, and thus Eusebia was under her mother's strict orders. Tradition says that her mother sent her to Marchiennes Abbey, also in France. Eusebia thus obeyed her authorities.

Accomplishing your mission
It didn't take long, and soon Eusebia, with her mother's permission, was able to return and assume the role of abbess. Even in his youthfulness, he gave great examples of humility and the search for purity. She performed the most difficult jobs and was fair and moderate in her decisions.

Easter
It is said that Eusebia, by divine grace, predicted her own death, thus having time to guide and exhort her nuns to always live in fraternal charity. Some give the date of his death at age 23 or 33, but the Church sticks to the age of thirty-three.

Life lesson
Eusebia proved to be, like her Master, a model of humility.
