About Saint Pancratius

Heir of faith, courage and admiration for the emperor, Saint Pancratius had to live with his holy uncle Dionysius, who unfortunately died a martyr before his nephew. With the persecution promoted by the emperor, the young Pancratius began to see people witnessing Jesus to the point of blood, like his uncle and his friend.

Saint Pancratius and his martyrdom

Persuaded by the emperor himself, who recalled his love for his parents, Saint Pancratius remained faithful to Jesus, even in the face of promises and threats of death. At just 15 years old, he knew how to say 'no' to oppressive power and 'yes' to eternal life , which he entered after being beheaded, that is, martyred.

Pancratius' martyrdom was accompanied by that of other saints, such as Nereus and Achilles, who lived in the 3rd century and were severely tortured. One of the striking representations of this tragic act is the engraving of Saint Achilles struck by the executioner.
