Saint Katharine Drexel

Katharine Drexel, also known as Saint Katharine Drexel, was born in Philadelphia, United States, and was raised by her father and stepmother. She was educated in the faith from an early age and learned to use her material possessions to help others, as her family was very wealthy.

At the age of 32, she decided to consecrate herself as a missionary, after an audience with Pope Leo XIII. Catherine understood that her purpose in life was to help those most in need, so she founded the order of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, approved in Rome in 1913.

The missionary dedicated her life to serving Indians and African Americans, who suffered great racial discrimination, and also to evangelizing about the Eucharistic life. She helped the poor not only financially, but also with her presence, her love and her faith.

Saint Katharine Drexel was a woman of great faith and charity. His greatest desire was to serve the Lord and help those who were unable to help themselves. She taught everyone that loving the Eucharist and caring for those who suffer can change the world.

Saint Katharine Drexelwas beatified in 1988 and canonized in 2000. She died in 1955, when she was 97 years old. His legacy still lives on and is remembered as an example of faith, charity and love for others.
